About the Economic Development Authority (EDA)

The EDA is aligned with the city's mission of being "The Best Small Town in Minnesota." The EDA staff work hard to promote development and redevelopment, and encourage that the process is done in a manner that will enhance our small-town atmosphere. Its responsibilities include:

  • Promoting new businesses
  • Retaining and redeveloping existing businesses 
  • Developing sites that are economically difficult to develop without public assistance
  • Encouraging the development of housing in the city that is safe, diverse, and gives our citizens affordable options to own a home
  • Helping restore blighted properties and downtown historic buildings through redevelopment
  • Increasing the scope of services offered in the city
